Bank holiday weekend

Hooray. I bombed down to Weymouth early on friday to miss the bank holiday weekend traffic, which i did... just. Chilled for a while and then did a 10km walk at midnight with my aunt and cousin. I felt great, did it in 2 hours. The next morning, and i say morning because yes i did get up in the am, i went a played 9 holes of golf with my aunt. This is a milestone as that is the first time that i have played a full 9 holes, although we didn't keep score and sometimes hit more than 1 ball off the tee.
It was a thoroughly wonderful couple of days, the sun was sunny and the whole thing relaxing and enjoyable, i love it down there... althoug i always seem to pack ahuge amount of activity in.
Baby G was as cute as ever.

Moving to the exotic

For ages we have lain in bed listening to the birds that have nested in the mature tree outside the house. For ages we listened to the mummy & daddy birds obviously taking joy in their little broad. From dawn to dusk, it was the breeding season ... we understood.

Until one day, the beau debated the origin of such a screech and the relentless noise, and went on an investigative walk. Oh yes, in the surburbs of the working class demographic geographical environs of Hampshire is a garden with a shed in it, and in that shed is not one, but four birds of paradise (I assume with all the correct paperwork).

We just need a sand pit in the garden and we can imagine we are in the exotic wilds... joy.

Getting somewhere

Two updates which are great, one of the heart and one of the mind:-
My cousin has finally got the date when her and her husband will have their adoptive son home - August 24th. They have been waiting 2 years for this day, and they are very relieved that it is actually happening.

I, with some help, got the flat rearranged ready for rental and took loads of stuff to the dump. I feel like alot was achieved and i am much closer to the goal. I think a few days off are required for the final push ... and a chippy. So looking forward to the next phase of life.

A being doing

Why is it when you meet people, particularly in the random business cocktail party / jolly arena there is never really anything deep and meaningful to discuss, so almost instinctively people open conversation with "so what do you do?". This is a question that I ponder, because it defines you as a person by what you do, not who you be. Ponder this...

We are called human beings NOT human doings. You have to BE before you DO [anthing].

Live or die situation

I heard a surreal conversation today. If a person is in dire need i.e. no money, no job, no home - literally on the streets, they can apply for a 'crisis' loan which will allow them to get basic food and toiletries until their case is dealt with.

Of the numerous questions that is asked within the application process, one of them is "what would happen to you if you did not have anything to eat or drink?"
